The “Petite Maison des Chiens” is a small family dog kennels.
Dominique Burki manages these kennels and not only holds a certificate of aptitude issued by the “Société Centrale Canine” but has also designed the kennels to meet the current Departmental Veterinary Services Directorate standards.
The kennels are especially designed for dogs used to living indoors with their owners and for owners that want their dogs to be happy during their absence. The kennels’ primary objective is to ensure the well-being of the dogs that stay there by creating a harmonious, happy atmosphere. Consequently, it usually takes dogs that are sociable with both people and other dogs, thus ensuring the dogs can spend the maximum amount of time free in one of the enclosures with other dogs.

The kennels are situated right in the countryside, but only 3km from Bergerac, the Dordogne sub-prefecture, a tourist centre in the Perigord just 90 km from Bordeaux and 2½ hours from Toulouse etc.
Services and special features:
Dogs receive the personal attention they each require based on their particular characteristics, habits, health, age and character.
Food is not provided, as we believe it is better for dogs to eat their usual food (which indeed is the practice recommended by veterinary surgeons). Owners should therefore provide their dog’s food and anything else that may help their dog settle during its stay.
The kennels has 3 enclosures, two of which have direct access to the kitchen of the private house, an area open to any sociable, non- destructive dogs that may need more contact.
Only one male at a time is allowed to mix with any bitches, also of course assuming that the dogs are compatible in terms of characters, size, power etc.
The delight of this work is seeing happy dogs and confident owners with freedom of mind because they know their dog will be happy. A dog’s behaviour on its second stay provides our best possible publicity.
Information and booking
The kennels are open 7/7 throughout the year Monday to Saturday: 9 am to midday and 3pm to 7 pm Sundays and bank holidays: 5 pm to 7 pm
Lengths of stay vary from one day to 6 months, as required
Visits, arrivals and departures are by prior telephone appointment and we would be most grateful if owners would respect these times so we can give the dogs as much free time as possible outside and ensure the harmony of the premises.
As far as possible we endeavour to avoid the stress caused by intense bouts of barking.
Prices are based not on the size of the dog but on its sociability.
Apart from any courses of veterinary treatment that may already be underway and for any dogs living in Bergerac, there is a veterinary clinic especially attached to the kennels to deal with any emergencies that may arise.
The kennels have professional civil liability insurance, which covers any damage a dog may have suffered during its stay.
We are unable to accept bitches on heat as to do so would disrupt the harmonious atmosphere of the kennels.
